There are numerous myths and inaccuracies regarding Scientology being propagated in the media and on the Internet. In many cases such misinformation is intentional so as to provide a controversial image of Scientology and to influence public opinion. Quotations by Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, are often taken out of context so as to make him look like a nut-case. Scientology beliefs and teachings are also often misinterpreted by those critical of the movement.
